It's pretty easy actually. First, it's best to aline them from top to bottom. I'll give 2 examples. 1.2 * 2. Multiply like you usually would: 2*2 is 4 and 1*2 is 2. So now we have 24. Now we count the number of spaces from the right of the numbers to the decimal point. So there's one space from 2 to the decimal point. So now, we put the decimal in the answer after one space before the 4 giving you 2.4

Now I'll give you another doing the same. 1.2 * 2.4. Multiply like you would: 288. Now we do the same thing, count from the last number on both numbers to the decimal point: from 2 to the point and from 4 to the point. There are 2 spaces in total meaning we add the decimal 2 spaces: 2.88

I hope you understand how I explained it. It's a little hard explaining using a keyboard but I hope you were able to understand it :)

In an examination of purchasing patterns of shoppers, a sample of 16 shoppers revealed that they spent, on average, $54 per hour
Lesechka [4]

Answer:

54-1.64\frac{21}{\sqrt{16}}=45.39

54 +1.64\frac{21}{\sqrt{16}}=62.61

So on this case the 90% confidence interval would be given by (45.39;62.61)

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A confidence interval is "a range of values that’s likely to include a population value with a certain degree of confidence. It is often expressed a % whereby a population means lies between an upper and lower interval".

The margin of error is the range of values below and above the sample statistic in a confidence interval.

Normal distribution, is a "probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the mean".

\bar X=54 represent the sample mean

\mu population mean (variable of interest)

\sigma=21 represent the sample standard deviation

n=16 represent the sample size

Solution to the problem

The confidence interval for the mean is given by the following formula:

\bar X \pm z_{\alpha/2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}   (1)

Since the Confidence is 0.90 or 90%, the value of \alpha=1-0.9=0.1 and \alpha/2 =0.05, and we can use excel, a calculator or a table to find the critical value. The excel command would be: "=-NORM.INV(0.05,0,1)".And we see that z_{\alpha/2}=1.64

Now we have everything in order to replace into formula (1):

54-1.64\frac{21}{\sqrt{16}}=45.39

54 +1.64\frac{21}{\sqrt{16}}=62.61

So on this case the 90% confidence interval would be given by (45.39;62.61)

Simplify (6x2 + 11x − 3) + (2x2 − 17x − 4).
d1i1m1o1n [39]

Answer:

B. 8x^2-6x-7

Step-by-step explanation:

All you have to do is combine the like terms.

Like terms are the terms that have the same variable and same exponent.

The like terms in this equation are 6x^2 and 2x^2, 11x and -17x, and -3 and -4.

When you add 6x^2 and 2x^2, you get 8x^2

When you add 11x and -17x, you get -6x

When you add -3 and -4, you get -7.

Putting these all in order, your answer is

8x^2 - 6x - 7
