The Pythagorean states that when you take the two legs and square them and add them together, you get the same value as squaring the hypotenuse.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse.

The Pythagorean theorem is useful when finding a missing side of a right triangle.

For example, say we have a right triangle with the legs of 3 and 4.
But we do not the length of the hypotenuse.

Plugging in the values we do know, we can get the length of the hypotenuse.

3^2 + 4^2 = c^2 \\ 9 + 16 = c^2 \\ 25 = c^2 \\  \sqrt{25} = \sqrt{c^2} \\ 5 = c

So, the length of the hypotenuse would be 5.

Answer:

x<-3 or x>-1

Step by step explanation:

Start with -5x>15. To get x by itself, we have to divide each side by -5. When we do that we get x<-3. (Don't forget to flip the sign when dealing with negative  · and ÷.) Now answer the second equation. x-5>-6 To get x by itself, add 5 to both sides to get x>-1. Now we have x<3 or x>-1.

Which statement best describes the conditions for f(x)=a(b)^x to be a model for exponential growth?
s344n2d4d5 [400]

In order for this to be a model of exponential growth, the b term must be greater than 1.

If the b term is between 0 and 1, then it becomes a model for exponential decay as the number will continue to get smaller and smaller for every value of x. Greater than one will continue to grow and therefore be an exponential growth model.

A square fits exactly inside a circle with each of its vertices
tiny-mole [99]

Answer:

5.97

Step-by-step explanation:

If the radius of the circle = r then

pi r^2 = 56

r^2 = 56/pi

r = sqrt(56/pi)

The radius of the circle is equal to half of a diagonal of the square. That is,

r = (1/2) sqrt (2x^2)

= x (sqrt 2)/2

= x/(sqrt 2)

So x = r sqrt 2

= sqrt (56/pi) sqrt 2

= 4 sqrt (7/pi)

= 5.9708
