Some of the problems in the late 1800’s was the labor force. Workers were underpaid, over worked and had terrible unsafe working conditions. Another problem was infrastructure, the roads, bridges and railroads were struggling to keep up with the speed of population growth and spreading of communities Westward.

¿Qué importancia tiene la obra de Ollantay desde el punto de vista histórico y literario?
Travka [436]

Answer:

Ollantay is a colonial-style drama of Quechua origin, its original author is Antonio Valdes.

The most accepted position today is that the story told in the drama is of Inca origin, which was long preserved as an oral tradition, until in the colonial era it was adapted for its theatrical staging according to the western mold, although the author or authors of said adaptation remain anonymous. It was first published in 1857 by Johann Jakob von Tschudi, in Quechua and German. The first version in Castilian appeared in Lima, in 1868, published by José Sebastián Barranca and subtitled The rigors of a father and the generosity of a king; Since then, different versions have appeared in different languages.

Explanation:

The Ollantay is written in verse and divided into three acts. There is tolerance in measure and freedom in the rhyme. The predominant verse is the octosyllable that alternates with the hendecasyllable. As for the rhyme, the asonantada prevails; However, there are many white verses, which is why it is considered one of the richest literary works with great cultural knowledge.

Not only because it expresses or manifests past cultures but also has a strong dramatic base.

It was a work recognized around the world where it was released in many languages, and was even copied in many situations.

Today there are several hypotheses based on this account.
