Willie jay was one of the few friends of Perry and was honest and respectable to him. He tried to change the attitude of Perry and tried to save him from violence. The biggest challenge to the friendship between Perry smith and Willie jay was when Willie-Jay went to jail because he is a preacher and hypocrite.
