Article 1 - The Negative Effects of Industrialization

1. The Progressive Movement was held in early 20th century and it was against the political influence over the country. People wanted to reform the government and the control should return to the people, restrict political corruption and improve economy, and improve the condition of women and and children.

2. There were several negative effects of the industrialization, some of them are as follows:

  • Long working hours
  • Lower wages
  • Increasing  Child labor
  • Unsafe working conditions

3. Oscar William Neebe was a labor activist and he said that if any worker lost their finger or a hand while working then he/she will be paid off and sent home, the others would take their places.

Article 2:

1. Labor union is a group of labors working in a factory that represents interest of workers related to factory or industry concerns such as as wages and working conditions.

2. Labor unions are effective because it shows a collective decision of all workers and not of individual, so a collective decision is more powerful that affect the working condition of a industry.

3. The process of going on strike starts with the negotiation of union leader with an employer for the concern. If employer do not agree with and both parties do not come into a conclusion, then workers decide to give a threat of strike and workers walk off the job.
