The osmolarity of the water inside the glass tube exerts root pressure on the water source at the bottom, then tube exerts root pressure, to pull water via the process of osmosis. Further, water droplet at the top of the tube may also be an indication of the root pressure. Root pressure can also be indicated by placing pressure gauge and measuring the pressure. The tension and not the force in the tube is the indicator of root pressure and not transpiration.
