Efforts to change the legal voting age became more popular after World War II. The federal government’s draft sent young soldiers to war and military service when they were 18 years old. During World War II, most American males between the ages of 18 and 21 spent time serving in the armed forces, but they did not have the right to vote. Supporters of a constitutional amendment argued that citizens who were old enough to fight for their country should be old enough to have voting rights. These arguments won support from Americans and their leaders, leading to the passage of the 26th Amendment.

From what I know, they were upset that men were denied the right to vote, yet in WWII and Vietnam they were being conscripted to join the Army. 'Old enough to fight, Old enough to vote.'

The new deal did little to change the relationship between the American people and their government true or false?
Elenna [48]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

So, your question is straight foward, but what I do know is that The New Deal included new constraints and safeguards on the banking industry and efforts to re-inflate the economy after prices had fallen sharply. New Deal programs included both laws passed by Congress as well as presidential executive orders during the first term of the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
