Cost of one cherry pie is $ 9 and cost of one lemon meringue is $ 12

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Let "c" be the cost of one cherry pie

Let "m" be the cost of one lemon meringue

<em><u>Given that Jose sold 17 cherry pies and 14 lemon meringue for a total of $321</u></em>

We can frame a equation as:

17 cherry pies x cost of one cherry pie + 14 lemon meringue x cost of one lemon meringue = $ 321

17 \times c + 14 \times m= 321

17c + 14m = 321 ------- eqn 1

<em><u>Jill sold 9 cherry pies and 5 lemon meringue pies for a total of $141</u></em>

9 cherry pies x cost of one cherry pie + 5 lemon meringue x  cost of one lemon meringue = $ 141

9 \times c + 5 \times m = 141

9c + 5m = 141  -------- eqn 2

<u><em>Let us solve eqn 1 and eqn 2 to find values of "c" and "m"</em></u>

Multiply eqn 1 by 5

85c + 70m = 1605 ----- eqn 3

Multiply eqn 2 by 14

126c + 70m = 1974  ------- eqn 4

Subtract eqn 3 from eqn 4

126c + 70m = 1974

85c + 70m = 1605

(-) -------------------

41c = 369

<h3>c = 9</h3>

Substitute c = 9 in eqn 1

17c + 14m = 321

17(9) + 14m = 321

14m = 369 - 153

14m = 168

<h3>m = 12</h3>

Thus the cost of one cherry pie is $ 9 and cost of one lemon meringue is $ 12

A set of equations is given below:
Hunter-Best [27]
If you would like to find a step that can be used to find the solution to the set of equations, you can do this using the following steps:

c = 2d + 1
c = 3d + 5
__________
c = c
2d + 1 = 3d + 5
2d - 3d = 5 - 1
- d = 4
d = -4

The correct result would be <span>2d + 1 = 3d + 5.</span>

Find how many six-digit numbers can be formed from the digits 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 (with repetitions), if:
Goshia [24]

Answer:

case 1 = 2592

case 2 =  729

case 1 + case 2 =  2916

(this is not a direct adition, because case 1 and case 2 have some shared elements)

Step-by-step explanation:

Case 1)

6 digits numbers that can be divided by 25.

For the first four positions, we can use any of the 6 given numbers.

For the last two positions, we have that the only numbers that can be divided by 25 are numbers that end in 25, 50, 75 or 100.

The only two that we can create with the numbers given are 25 and 75.

So for the fifth position we have 2 options, 2 or 7,

and for the last position we have only one option, 5.

Then the total number of combinations is:

C = 6*6*6*6*2*1 = 2592

case 2)

The even numbers are 2,4 and 6

the odd numbers are 3, 5 and 7.

For the even positions we can only use odd numbers, we have 3 even positions and 3 odd numbers, so the combinations are:

3*3*3

For the odd positions we can only use even numbers, we have 3 even numbers, so the number of combinations is:

3*3*3

we can put those two togheter and get that the total number of combinations is:

C = 3*3*3*3*3*3 = 3^6 = 729

If we want to calculate the combinations togheter, we need to discard the cases where we use 2 in the fourth position and 5 in the sixt position (because those numbers are already counted in case 1) so we have 2 numbers for the fifth position and 2 numbers for the sixt position

Then the number of combinations is

C = 3*3*3*3*2*2 = 324

Case 1 + case 2 = 324 + 2592 = 2916

The equation below represents Function A and the graph represents Function B:
kozerog [31]

The slope of function A is the coefficient of x, which is 6.

The slope of function B is the rise divided by the run, which is 3/1 = 3.

The appropriate choice is ...

... c) Slope of Function A = 2×Slope of Function B
