When you lease a car, you are not the owner of the vehicle. By paying a fee, you get to use it for a specific amount of time, and when that period is over you can decide if you want to buy it or not. Because you are not the owner of the car, you do not have the option of selling it if you do not want to use it anymore. That is why some people prefer to own a car rather than to lease it, so that they have the option of re-selling it at any given moment.
