Express moving: y=4/5x+25Smith and Smith Co: y=3/5x+35
4/5x+25=3/5x+35Subtract 25 from both sides:4/5x=3/5x+10Subtract 3/5x from both sides1/5x=10x=50
50 miles would make the two choices equivalent (65$)

Hello there!

I hope you are having a good day!

I would be happy to help!

Your question states:The Brown family needs to rent a truck for their upcoming move. Express Movers will charge them $25 for the first day and $0.80 for every mile. Smith & Smith Co. will charge $35 for the first day and $0.60 for every mile. Before deciding which service to use, Mrs. Brown wants to find out how many miles would make the two choices equivalent in cost. The following equations represent this situation.

The equations are:

y=4/5x + 25

y=3/5x + 35

We can figure out the answer by graphing!

I have attached the graph below.

We will find the answer by looking for the point where the lines intersect.

The lines intersect at (50, 65)

Both cost $65 at 50 miles.

Hope I helped!

Let me know if you need anything else!

Artemon [7]
6 less than the product of 7 and this number is 85.
6 less than (the product of (7 and this number)) is 85.

6 less than (the product of 7 and x) = 85
6 less than (7 * x) = 85
(7 * x) - 6 = 85

Now you solve! Make sure that whatever you do to one side you also do to the other:
7x - 6 = 85
7x - 6 + 6 = 85 + 6
7x = 91
7x /7 = 91 /7
x = 13

Hope this helps! :)

You have to do 4 times the 8 which is 24. Then find the adding for the -6. 1*6 2*6 3*6 4*6 , 4*6 is 24 so your answer would be (x-4) (x+6)

A diesel train traveled to the repair yards and
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

B.  16 hrs

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance = rate × time

The best way to do this is to make a table with the info.  We are concerned with the trip There and the Return trip.  Set it up accordingly:

                    d     =     r     ×     t

There

Return

The train made a trip from A to B and then back to A again, so the distances are both the same.  We don't know what the distance is, but it doesn't matter.  Just go with it for now.  It'll be important later.

               d     =     r     ×     t

There      d

Return     d

We are also told the rates.  There is 70 km/hr and return is 80 km/hr

               d     =     r     ×     t

There      d     =    70

Return     d     =    80

All that's left is the time column now.  We don't know how long it took to get there or back, but if it took 2 hours longer to get There than on the Return, the Return trip took t and the There trip took t + 2:

                      d     =     r     ×     t

There             d     =    70   ×    t+2

Return            d     =    80   ×     t

The distances, remember, are the same for both trips, so that means that by the transitive property of equality, their equations can be set equal to each other:

70(t + 2) = 80t

70t + 140 = 80t

140 = 10t

14 = t

That t represents the Return trip's time.  Add 2 hours to it since the There trip's time is t+2.  So 14 + 2 = 16.

B.  16 hours

Answer:

The first and third quartiles were calculated incorrectly. Also, this means the inter quartile range is incorrect.

Step-by-step explanation:

The first quartile is going to be the median of the lower half of the data set {89, 93, 99, 110}  this median is (93+99)/2, or 96.

The third quartile can be calculated the same way with the data set {135, 144, 152, 159} This gives us 148 as the third quartile.

Lastly, the interquartile range is just the difference between the first and third quartiles, which is 52.
