Suppose that vector v lies in quadrant II, quadrant III, or quadrant IV. How can you use trigonometric ratios to calculate the d

irection (i.e., angle) of the vector in each of these quadrants with respect to the positive x-axis? The angle between the vector and the positive x-axis will be greater than 90 in each case.

Answer:

The angles with respect the positive x-axis are given by the following formulas for each quadrant.

Second quadrant

\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+\pi\\\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+180^\circ

Third quadrant

\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+\pi\\\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+180^\circ

Fourth quadrant

\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+2\pi\\\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+360^\circ

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to calculate the angle in a general way, we always use the formula

\theta =tan^{-1} \left( \cfrac yx \right)

That will give us the angle of the associated reference triangle, the issue is that the the output of the inverse trigonometric function is in the range [-\pi/2, \pi/2] and that does not give us the exact angle with respect the positive x-axis.

Thus we need to add some angle to get the correct angle with respect the positive x-axis.

Case second quadrant.

The output of \theta =tan^{-1} \left( \cfrac yx \right) will be negative, since y is greater than 0 but x is less than zero.

To fix that, and get the angle on the second quadrant we can add either pi  or 180 degrees, so we will get:

\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+\pi\\\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+180^\circ

Case third quadrant.

The output of \theta =tan^{-1} \left( \cfrac yx \right) will be positive but it will be smaller than 90 degrees.

To fix that, and get the angle on the second quadrant we can add either pi  or 180 degrees, so we will get:

\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+\pi\\\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+180^\circ

Case fourth quadrant

The output of \theta =tan^{-1} \left( \cfrac yx \right) will be negative since y is less than 0 but x is positive.

To fix that we can get a positive coterminal angle, that means adding 2pi or 360 degrees, so we will get

\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+2\pi\\\theta =\tan^{-1} \left(\cfrac yx\right)+360^\circ

Answer:

YES

Step-by-step explanation:

Why is the classmate correct?

The reason why the classmate is correct is that everything can turn 360 degrees. This means that a square, has to turn 360 degrees, and it does that by doing 90x4. This means that it has 90-degree angles, which turn 4 times. And that makes 360. That's how this is also correct. Because this classmate turned a figure 270 degrees clockwise, and also, 360-270=90, which means that turning that figure 90 degrees counter-clockwise will make it in that same position.

To check whether this is right or not, take an object, probably like a book. Then turn it 90 degrees to counter-clockwise, and note down the position, that the front of the book is now facing left, and the back of the book is now facing right. Then, turn it back to normal position, (back of the book facing you), then, turn it 3 times 90 degrees towards Clockwise, in that way, you can see, that the book turns in the same way it did when you did 90 degrees counter-clockwise!

<h2>I checked this, it's 176 words long.</h2>

Thanks!

Alex17521 [72]

Answer: 1.645

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The quality control manager of a soda manufacturing company wishes to use a significant level of 0.05 to test whether the variabilities in the amount of soda in the company's 16 OZ bottles is more than the variabilities in the company's 12 OZ bottles.

Let \sigma_1^2 represents the variance for 16 OZ bottles and \sigma_2^2 represents the variance for 12 OZ bottles.

The Null and Alternative Hypothesis will be  :-

H_0:\sigma_1^2\geq\sigma_2^2

H_1:\sigma_1^2, since alternative hypothesis is left-tailed , then the test is left-tailed test.

By using the standard normal distribution table for z, the critical value for this hypothesis:-

z_{\alpha}=z_{0.05}=1.645

The sum of three consecutive odd integers is 195. Find the three integers.
Anettt [7]
Good afternoon,

x= first odd integer
x+2 = second odd integer
x+4= third intenger

The sum of the trhree integer is 195, so:

x + (x+2) + (x+4) = 195
3x = 195 - 4 - 2
3x=189
x= 63

Then the Answer is: 63, 65 and 67
