A progressive tax's percentage is dependent on what income bracket you are in. So if you are in a higher income bracket (you earn more) then you would pay a bigger percentage than someone in a lower income bracket. That is why it is a "progressive tax", because it gets progressively bigger.
The Mexican-American War (1846-1848) marked the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil. When the dust cleared, Mexico had lost about one-third of its territory, including nearly all of present-day California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.
