It contrasts the period’s picture of childhood innocence because Blake uses imagery, structure and form to create effects of how the environment that Blake lived in affected the way he wrote his poems. These poems use animals to attest to God’s role as the Creator, yet they possess contrasting tones and language of the speaker and present conflicting views of God’s power and ability.
