Answer:

The paralyzing effect of curare is caused by its ability to block the action of acetylcholine at neuron-muscle synapses.

Explanation:

Curare -used by South American Indians to attack their enemies and hunting- is considered a poison, that really is a chemical agent with paralyzing, neurotoxic, activity on skeletal muscle.

Curare is extracted from various plants -including Strychnos toxifera and Anomospermum grandiflora- or synthesized as D-tubocurarine.

The effect of curare is on the nicotinic receptors found in the neuromotor plate.

 • Acetylcholine binds to its receptor at the neuromuscular synapse to promote the opening of the sodium channels required by the muscle fiber to contract.
 • The neurotoxin blocks the receptors, preventing the action of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which induces muscle paralysis.

High doses of the neurotoxin can cause death from respiratory paralysis.

Mr. Roberson, age 42, is diagnosed with essential hypertension. His blood pressure has been ranging between 150 and 184 mm Hg sy
Neporo4naja [7]

Answer:

a. Atenolol is a beta-blocker, while Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic.

b. Atenolol and Hydrochlorothiazide can be used together to decrease the blood pressure and to slow the heart rate down.

c. The patient needs to have into consideration that both medications may cause irregular heartbeats, dizziness, weakness and fainting.

Explanation:

Atenolol is a beta-blocker, it means that this drug slows down the heart rate by changing how the body responds to nerve impulses, which enhances the pumping of blood. Moreover, Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic or 'water pills' drug that can be used to treat edema conditions (i.e., excess fluid in tissues), thereby enhancing blood pressure that can damage the heart. It has been shown that the combination of both drugs may decrease the blood pressure and the incidence of hypertension.

Explain briefly why some people disagree with Kohlberg's theory of moral development.
Angelina_Jolie [31]
I’m not sure if this exactly answers your question, but some eyebrows are raised at his dilemmas (morality tests) because the only people tested were 10-16 year old boys that had never been in the situations that were presented to them. Overall his dilemmas could be a reason why people question his theories. Other than this reason I am not aware of another reason why people would question his stages of moral development.
