Which of the following was NOT a reason for United States expansion between 1880 and 1914?
Novosadov [1.4K]

Letter A is correct. Many are the reasons that led to the United States expansion, but the desire to extend Christianity was not one of them. The U.S expanded westward across North America, initially as part of 'Manifest Destiny', but also as an outlet for their growing population. They also wanted an overseas empire like the other major western powers at the time (such as Britain and France). And, that included new markets and sources of revenue along with a more proeminent position on the world stage.

How did Jonathan Swift label himself?
Orlov [11]

The answer is misanthrope.  But some say Swift does not hate or mistrust his fellowman rather he shows man’s flaws in an effort to correct them.  You cannot hate a person if what your intention is to make then see the error of their behavior.  A person hates or distrust would not do that.

What did Shay's rebellion convince colonial leaders that they had to change?
Semmy [17]

Shay's rebellion was mostly lead by farmers who were upset by their taxes and debts and decided to take matters into their own hands. They did not want their property taken from them, as this happened when they were not able to pay their debts and/or taxes, so they forced closure of multiple courts throughout Massachusetts. Blood was shed, and eventually Shay's rebellion caused the Constitutional Convention of 1787 which discussed changing the Articles of Confederation which maintained the weak government system and caused many problems. After this the Constitution was created.
