Lets begin with our y=mx+b, our constant(b) is 800 that she earns as a salary, our x represents the amount she sells, m then represents the commission which is 8.25% so converting that to a decimal and replacing it as m gets us y = 0.0825x+800. Replace $4500 for x and we have y=0.0825(4500)+800 solve and we get $1171.25

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

These problems are based on triangle ratios. You cannot use the Pythagorean theorem to solve them.

The first triangle is a 45 45 90 degree triangle (I'm talking about the angles), and so, the ratio is 1:1:\sqrt{2\\}, so I have to divide the hypotenuse by \sqrt{2\\} to get the legs. The hypotenuse is 15\sqrt{6}, so that divided by \sqrt{2\\} is 15\sqrt{3\\}. X is the same length as y because of the triangle ratio, so both x and y for the first triangle are 15\sqrt{3\\}.

The second triangle is a 30 60 90 degree triangle, so the ratio is x:x\sqrt{3}:2x. The short leg is 7\sqrt{3}, so 7\sqrt{3} * 2 is the hypotenuse, which is 14\sqrt{3}. The long leg is 7\sqrt{3} * \sqrt{3}, which is 21. So, x for the second triangle is 14\sqrt{3}, and y for the second triangle is 21.

(7 points) Cars arrive at a toll both according to a Poisson process with mean 80 cars per hour. If the attendant makes a two-mi
saveliy_v [14]

Answer:

The probability that at least 1 car arrives during the call is 0.9306

Step-by-step explanation:

Cars arriving according to Poisson process - 80 Cars per hour

If the attendant makes a 2 minute phone call, then effective λ = 80/60 * 2 = 2.66666667 = 2.67   X ≅ Poisson (λ = 2.67)

Now, we find the probability: P(X≥1)

P(X≥1) = 1 - p(x < 1)

P(X≥1) = 1 - p(x=0)

P(X≥1) = 1 - [ (e^-λ) * λ^0] / 0!

P(X≥1) = 1 - e^-2.67

P(X≥1) = 1 - 0.06945

P(X≥1) = 0.93055

P(X≥1) = 0.9306

Thus, the probability that at least 1 car arrives during the call is 0.9306.
