How does the contour plowing technique conserve soil?

Biology

Answer:

Contour plowing is one of the most common types of cultivation practice that is being carried out in the gentle slopes. This technique creates ridges and trenches in the land that helps in storing the water in its pore spaces and also holds the necessary minerals that are present in the topsoil. It does not allow the topsoil to get washed away during rainfall. It allows the water to slowly move downward along the slope through the narrow channels.

Thus, contour plowing is carried out in order to reduce the soil erosion process.

Contour plowing created grooves in the soil. Because the bottom of each groove is at the same elevation throughout its length, rainfalls will get trapped in each groove instead of running rapidly downhill toward the stream, carrying the top soil with it

hope this helps
