Germany' s Imperial ambitions in Central Europe and Africa, as well as the other continents, desired a broader inclusion in the global share of colonies that France and England had monopolized a centuries earlier.

A fierce competition to form trading and colonial outposts directly conflicted German inclusion as most of the lands were already distributed.

It wasn't but by the means of invasion that the territorial claims would be settled. A strong rivalry was most felt between the English and Germans in the sea for control of most of sea trade routes.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Britain was the world power having a fleet overseas in the five continents.

France to its part had control of must of north and central Africa.

And the Russian Empire in turn was experiencing the time when it had expanded over the widest land. A multinational empire like Russia had gained means to secure its dominance.

Geopolitically Russia and Germany were natural enemies, for this would repeatedly be a source of tensions.
