The point-slope form:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

m - slope

We have the line

y-3=-\dfrac{1}{5}(x+2)\to m=-\dfrac{1}{5}

If m₁ and m₂ are the slopes of the perpendicular lines, then

m_1m_2=-1\to m_2=-\dfrac{1}{m_1}

Therefore the slope of ouer line is

m=-\dfrac{1}{-\frac{1}{5}}=5

We have the point (-2, 7). Put the coordinates to the equation of a line in the point-slope form:

y-7=5(x-(-2))

y-7=5(x+2)      <em>use the distributive property</em>

y-7=(5)(x)+(5)(2)

y-7=5x+10       <em>add 7 to both sides</em>

\boxed{y=5x+17}

Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

48 sq inches

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Ribbon used around a bulletin broard is 28 inches

The length of her board is 6 inches

Let B is breadth of her board. 28 inches is perimeter. The perimeter of rectangle is given by :

P = 2(L+B)

28=2(6+B)

14=6+B

B=8 inches

The area of a rectangle is given by :

A = L×B

A = 8×6

A=48 sq inches

So, the area of her board is 48 sq inches

Re-write the quadratic function below in Standard Form<br> y = -(x + 8)(x + 7)
Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

y = - x² - 15x - 56

Step-by-step explanation:

y = - (x + 8)(x + 7) ← expand factors using FOIL

  = - (x² + 15x + 56) ← distribute parenthesis by - 1

y = - x² - 15x - 56 ← in standard form

The rate of depreciation dv / dt of a machine is inversely proportional to the square of t + 1, where v is the value of the mach
lukranit [14]
The solution for this problem is:
dV/dt = r/(t + 1)², V(0) = $500000, V(1) = $500000 - $200000 = $300000
∫dV = r∫ 1/(t + 1)² dt
V(t) = -r/(t + 1) + C
500000 = -r/(0 + 1) + C
400000 = -r/(1 + 1) + C
C = 300000, r = -100000
V(t) = 100000/(t + 1) + 300000
V(6) = 100000/(6+ 1) + 300000
V(6) = 14285.7143 + 300000

V(6) = $314285.71

one pipe fills a store pool in 12 hours. A second pipe fills the same pool in 6 hours. When a third pipe is added and all three
Alina [70]

Answer:

x  = 12  hours

Step-by-step explanation:

If one pipe fills store pool in 12 hours   in 1 hour will fill 1/12 of the pool

If one pipe fills a store pool in 6 hours in 1 hour will fill 1/6 of the pool

Let call " x " number of hours needed by the third pipe to fills the pool

then in 1 hour  will fill 1/x

The three pipes working together in 1 hour will fill

1/12  +  1/6  + 1/x

Now we know that the three pipes take 3 hours to fill the pool then in 1 hour three pipes will fill 1/3 of the pool, therefore

1/12  +  1/6  + 1/x  = 1/3

( x + 2*x + 12) /12*x  = 1/3   ⇒ ( 3*x +12 )/ 12*x = 1/3

9*x  + 36  = 12*x

- 3*x  = - 36

x  = 36/3

x  = 12  hours
