Use the fraction addition formula. $\frac{a}{b} + \frac{c}{d}= \frac{(ad+bc)}{bd}$

Substitute the numbers into the formula. 
a=5, b=1, c=1, d=7

$\frac{5}{1}+ \frac{1}{7} = \frac{12}{35}$
