x - 4y = -10

2x - 4y = -8

-------------------------subtract

-x = - 2

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 into x - 4y = -10

2 - 4y = -10

-4y = - 12

  y = 3

Answer

Solution: x = 2 , y = 3 or (2 , 3)

Answer:

(2,3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Because both equations involve the y-term -4y, elimination by addition/subtraction is a good choice as we solve this system of linear equations.

Multiply the 1st equation by -1, obtaining -x + 4y = 10; then add the 2nd equation to this result:

-x + 4y = 10

2x - 4y = -8

-------------------

x        = 2

Next, find y.  Substitute 2 for x in the first equation:  2 - 4y = -10.  Subtract 2 from both sides, obtaining -4y = -12.  Then y = 3.

The solution is (2,3).

Determine if the sequence below is arithmetic or geometric and determine the common difference / ratio in simplest form. 4, 2, 1
BigorU [14]

Answer:

geometric with r = \frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

An arithmetic sequence has a common difference (d) between consecutive terms

2 - 4 = - 2

1 - 2 = - 1

Then d is not common , not an arithmetic sequence

A geometric sequence has a common ratio (r ) between consecutive terms

2 ÷ 4 = 0.5

1 ÷ 2 = 0.5

Then common ratio r = \frac{1}{2}

Thus sequence is geometric

What's the volume of a cube-shaped box with edges 6 centimeters in length? A. 216 cm³ B. 18 cm³ C. 36 cm³ D. 1,296 cm³
xxMikexx [17]
The answer is 216 cm³.

This is because the volume of a cube is worked out by doing a^{3}. a being the edge. Therefore, you just have to do 6^{3} (6 × 6 × 6), which is 216.
