Learn to listen attentively to music. Begin by becoming an engaged listener. Taking this course is a step in the right direction since you'll be introduced to plenty of music listening exercises. The more you listen to music, analyze it, and learn about it, the deeper your response can and will be.

2. Pay attention to your responses.

When you hear a piece of music, pay attention to how it makes you feel–your emotional response, what it makes you think about–your intellectual response, and whether you're tempted to tap your foot or dance along–your physical response. Once you've begun to notice your responses, you can learn to put those responses into words and communicate them to others.
