Should we be standing every time the national anthem is played or pledge of allegiance is recited explain your thoughts
Ivenika [448]

It all depends on one's confidence and way of expressing themselves. Personally, I would say no. After everything that's been going on in this horrid year of 2020, the BLM movement has reasons. Since society today <em>still</em> has to fight for black lives (as well as others that aren't cis, straight, white men), the Pledge of Allegince speaks lies. Many people may pledge "justice for all," but our actions speak different from our words. If you are safe and have the confidence to rebel for what is just, <em>do not stand</em>, as one with heart shall not stand for injustice.

Hope this helps!

I absolutely love writing stuff like this, and it feels good.

Record a 9- to 11-minute presentation based on your close reading of "The Oval Portrait" by Edgar Allan Poe that answers one of
brilliants [131]

The Oval Portrait is a story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe, involving the disturbing circumstances of a portrait.

<h3>What is the Oval Portrait about?</h3>

The Oval Portrait" is the shortest of Poe's published stories. It concerns a man who spends the night in an abandoned house that he has not visited before. He becomes fascinated by a portrait of a young woman that he sees there.

The Oval Portrait symbolizes the danger of trying to capture and exert ownership over physical beauty.

The central theme of the short story The Oval Portrait is the relationship between life and art. This story has shown the destructive power of art and love.

1. into useful or beautiful <u>objects</u>

2. of <u>tools</u>, for the <u>job</u>

3. for <u>measuring</u>

9. with abrasive <u>sandpaper</u>, for the last <u>step</u>, in the <u>process </u>

10. for the final <u>touch</u> - <u>staining</u> or <u>painting</u> the wood

Explanation:

A prepositional phrase is a group of words that contains a preposition (e.g. <em>in, on, near, by, for</em>, etc), its object, and words that modify the object. The object can be a noun, a gerund (a verb form ending in <em>-ing </em>that acts as a noun), or a clause.

In the <em>Answer</em> section, you can see the correct answers. I have pointed out the prepositional phrases (what you are supposed to underline once) and have underlined the objects (what you are supposed to underline twice). Like this, we can clearly see what the elements of prepositional phrases are.

Read the excerpt and answer the question.
stich3 [128]

Answer:

Too much respect for law leads people to do many unjust things, as war illustrates: Soldiers become only a shadow of their humanity; the government shapes them into machines. Soldiers have no opportunity to exercise moral sense, reduced to the existence comparable to that of a horse or dog. Yet these men are often called good citizens.

Explanation:

This paragraph is from Civil Disobediance by Henry David Thoreau, and my answer of <em>"Too much respect for law leads people to do many unjust things, as war illustrates: Soldiers become only a shadow of their humanity; the government shapes them into machines. Soldiers have no opportunity to exercise moral sense, reduced to the existence comparable to that of a horse or dog. Yet these men are often called good citizens" </em>conveys the summary.
