Answer:

See answer below

Explanation:

Hi there,

To get started, recall the Center of Mass formula for two masses:

x_c_m = \frac{m_1x_1+m_2x_2}{m_1+m_2}  where m is mass and x is displacement <em>from the center of the shape.</em>

Since masses at the center of a geometric shape have a displacement (x) value of 0, as the mass is already of the center, and does not affect Xcm. So, we can disregard the central mass, hence we use the above formula for two masses.

We can arbitrarily define left to be a negative (-) displacement, and vice versa for right direction. We proceed with the formula:x_c_m=\frac{(-L/2)m+(L/2)2m}{m+2m} =\frac{(L/2)(-m+2m)}{3m} \\ x_c_m=\frac{L(m)}{6m} =\frac{L}{6}

Since we defined left (-) and right (+), we notice the center of mass is (+) value. This makes sense, as there is slightly more mass on the right side. Hence, you should place a support 1/6 of the rod's length away from the rod's center.

Study well and persevere.

thanks,

If an element has 20 protons and 20 neutrons in the nucleus of its atoms , what is the mass number of the atom?
Ilya [14]

Answer:

A=z+n

A=20+20

A=40

Explanation:

Not sure if I'm correct but I was taught that mass number is calculated by A=z+n where A is the mass number, z is the proton number and n is the number of neutrons.

Which of the following does not affect the rate of solubility
lions [1.4K]

Answer:

Weight

Explanation:

Weight does not have any effect on solutbility.

For gases their solubility relies a lot on pressure exerted. At higher presure, gases dissolves more readily than ever. The relationship between solubility and pressure is a direct one.

Higher surface area facilitates the rate of a reaction and in essence, helps to dissolve more solute. Surface area exposes a solute to the action of more solvent which would aid solutbility.

Temperature has a high effect on solubility. An increase in temperature would make more solute dissolve in it.

Ball a of mass 5.0 kilograms moving at 20 meters per second collides with ball b of unknown mass moving at 10 meters per second
RUDIKE [14]

M = mass of the ball A = 5.0 kg

m = mass of the ball B = ?

V = initial velocity of the ball A before collision = 20 m/s

v = initial velocity of the ball B  before collision = 10 m/s

V' = final velocity of the ball A after collision = 10 m/s

v' = final velocity of the ball B after collision = 15 m/s

using conservation of momentum

M V + m v = M V' + m v'

(5.0) (20) + m (10) = (5.0) (10) + m (15)

100 + 10 m= 50 + 15 m

5 m = 50

m= 10 m/s
