Answer:

44 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Julie is 6 feet tall

           She stands 15 feet from the flagpole.

           The edges of the square line up with the top and bottom of the flagpole.

Lets assume the height of flagpole be "h".

As given, the edges of the square line up with the top and bottom of the flagpole.

∴ Angle and base of triangle are same then ratio of corresponding sides are also equal.

Now, finding the height of flagpole by using tangent rule.

we know, tan\theta= \frac{Opposite}{adjacent}

Remember, both the angle are equal.

∴ Ratio of opposite and adjacent leg for both right angle triangle= \frac{6}{15} : \frac{h-6}{15}

We can put it; \frac{6}{15} = \frac{15}{h-6}

Solving the equation now

⇒ \frac{6}{15} = \frac{15}{h-6}

Multiplying both side by 15

⇒6 = \frac{15\times 15}{h-6}

Multiplying both side by (h-6)

⇒ 6\times (h-6) = 15\times 15

Distributive property of multiplication

⇒ 6h-36= 225

Adding both side by 36

⇒6h= 225+36

Dividing both side by 6

⇒h= \frac{261}{6}

∴ h= 43.5\ feet \approx 44 feet

Hence, the height of flagpole is 44 feet.

The value of sin^2 30° - cos^2 30° is
natulia [17]

Answer:

-1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Im not going to go into detail about how to compute sin30 and cos 30, but know that sine and cosine are just the ratios between the sides of a 30-60-90 triangle with a hypothenuse of 1.

With that being said:

sin^2 30 - cos^2 30

=  (1/2)^2 - ((sqrt3)/2)^2

= 1/4 - 3/4

= -1/2

Alice and Bob are playing a game. Alice starts first. On Alice's turn, she flips a coin. If she gets a heads, she wins. If not,
trapecia [35]

Answer:

The probability that Alice wins the game=\frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Alice and Bob are playing a game .

We have to find the probability that Alice wins the game .

If Alice win when she gets head and lose when she gets tail.Bob wins when she gets tail and she lose when she gets head.

Total results in a coin=Head, tail=2

Number of head in a coin=1

Number of tail in a coin= 1

Probability is defined as the possibility of an event that occurred

P(E)=\frac{Number\;of\;favourable\;cases}{total\;of\;cases}

The probability that Alice wins the game=\frac{Number\;of\;favourable\;cases}{Total\;number\;of\;cases}

The probability that Alice wins the game=\frac{number \;of \;heads}{Total\; results}

The probability that Alice wins the game=\frac{1}{2}
