(Q- quartile) There are 5 steps and 3 quartiles to a box plot. You start by puting your numberline into order from least to greatest. Then you circle the smalled number (min) and circle the highest number (max). If you have an odd amount of numbers in yoru number line then you are able to find the middle number easier. ex. 1,2,(3),4,5 but if you have and even amount you will take the two middle numbers, add them then divide by 2. ex. 1,(2),(3),4 - 2+3=5/2= 2.5<--(Q3) <--- that'll be you middle number (median). You then take your number line and put a box around the number without including the middle number ( works for even or odd numberline ) ex. {1,2},(3),{4,5} or ex. {1,2},("2.5"),{3,4}. Okay now you want to find the middle (median) of the numbers in boxes. So add them and divide by 2 (you'll have 2 different numbers). ex. 1+2=3/2=1.5 <-- (Q1) & 4+5=9/2=4.5<-- (Q2) or ex. 1+2=3/2=1.5<-- (Q1) & 3+4=7/2=3.5<-- (Q2). ( I hope im not confusing you, im giving you examples of both even and odd numberlines! ) Now to the actual box plot. (Make sure to have a numberline that will fit all your numbers of your starting numberline) Your "whiskers" of the box plot are going to be your min and max. So first is your "minimul" number as the whisker in front of the box. (Now onto the actual box) The front of the box is quartile 1 the line in the middle of the box is quartile 2 and the last part of the box is quartile 3. Then you add your "maximum" whisker at the back of the box. So when you're doing that part you are basically just drawing and inserting your solutions. That is how to construct the box plot. For putting it on a graph you have to go by the information given to you. And make your multiple ones and just label them. I will attach some pictures for you. Also you may already know or will learn about the outliers and basically the outliers are numbers that where in the number line that dont fit in the box plot so its left alone. I hope this helped you I know its long but its filled with tons of information. This would be way easier if i could show you virtually or physically but I cant which is why i made this so long & detailed.

The points (2,-2) and (-4,13) line on the graph of a linear function of x. Which point also lies on the graph of this function?
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

(0, 3) lies on the line joining (2, -2) and (-4, 13).

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of the line joining the points (2, -2) and (-4, 13) is:

\frac{y+2}{13+2} =\frac{x-2}{-4-2}

\frac{y+2}{15} =\frac{x-2}{-6}

\frac{y+2}{5} =\frac{x-2}{-2}

-2(y + 2) = 5(x - 2)

-2y - 4 = 5x - 10

5x + 2y - 6 = 0

When we substitute x = 0 and y = 3,

5(0) + 2(3) = 0 + 6 = 6

So, (0, 3) lies on the line joining (2, -2) and (-4, 13).

Rita goes for a bike ride on a trail by her house. After 15 minutes of riding she sees a mile marker. When she reaches the third
lana66690 [7]

Given:

Rita covered 1 mile in 15 minutes.

She covered 3 miles in 30 minutes.

To find:

The rate at which she is riding.

Solution:

Let y be the number of miles covered in x minutes.

Rita covered 1 mile in 15 minutes. So, the point is (15,1).

She covered 3 miles in 30 minutes. So, the point is (30,3).

Slope of the line:

m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

m=\dfrac{3-1}{30-15}

m=\dfrac{2}{15}

Therefore, she is riding \dfrac{2}{15} miles per minute.
