So we have been doing quadratic word problems and I have gotten to the point where the teacher said it needs to be factored. How do you factor this?

W^2 + 7w - 144
you need 2 numbers  whose product is -144 and whose sum is +7

that is 16 * -9
so the factors are 
(w + 16)(w - 9)
