Based on your own experiences and observations, which two phrases should be considered when predicting what paul will do? unexpe
horsena [70]

Based on my experiences and observations, the two phrases which should be considered when predicting what Paul will do in Unexpected Visitor by T. Herlinger are option D. "wracked with embarrassment and guilt" and option E. "hiding from the New York crowd of pedestrians".

Who is the unexpected visitor in this story?

In the story Unexpected Visitor by T. Herlinger, the unexpected visitor is Paul's father.

Paul's father, in a grey business suit, baking in the August heat, visits his rebellious son to understand his situation.

He is happy that his son has become independent and decides to eat lunch with him.

What do the last actions of Paul suggest?

When Paul's father reaches up and ruffles Paul's hair, grinning at him, Paul quickly turns his head away, wracked with embarrassment and guilt, as he is ashamed of the fact that he had disobeyed his father and had discontinued helping him in his restaurant.

After that, "Paul ducked his head, hiding from the New York crowd of pedestrians, and wheeled the rack of clothes down the sidewalk in the other direction." This shows that he doesn't want to encounter any other familiar faces and is ready to ditch his father from their appointed meeting to eat lunch together.

Therefore, the two phrases which should be considered when predicting what Paul will do in Unexpected Visitor by T. Herlinger are option D. "wracked with embarrassment and guilt" and option E. "hiding from the New York crowd of pedestrians."

NO SAMPLE ANWSERS
Sonja [21]

The tone in “Barbara Frietchie” is one of admiration. The speaker clearly admires the stand that Frietchie takes when supporting the Union in front of the Confederate troops. Words such as bravest, loyal, and honor show that the speaker admires Barbara Frietchie’s courage. The poem also has a patriotic tone. This is evident when Frietchie tells the Confederate commander to shoot at her and not at the flag. Frietchie is proud of her beliefs and cannot bear to see the commander disrespect the Union flag. That is the word for word so you will need to change it up a little bit for the teacher not to notice. The tone in barbara Frietchie is admirable. The speaker clearly admires the stand that Frenchie takes when helping the union. Words such as bravery, loyal show that the speaker admires Barbara Frietchie’s courage. The poem also has a patriotic tone. This is evident when Frenchie tells them to shoot at her and not at the flag. Frietchie is proud and will not see them shoot the union flag.

Are people more likely to be happy if they focus on goals other than their own happiness ? Thoughts?
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

I think so because being able to say you did/accomplished something, can bring you a sense of purpose and happiness. If you focus on merely trying to be happy, you will get carried away and frustrated, but if you set goals, and accomplish them, you wil feel like a winner.

Is professional sports in the U.S. an extension of plantation(slavery)
DerKrebs [107]
I think this is more of a personal opinion. I dont think that it is “slavery” in the traditional way we think of it back when people owned slaves. I was going to play college golf but i decided not to because when you sign those papers, the university “owns you” in the sense that youll do whatever they want because theyre letting you go to college for free in exchange for your athletic ability.
