3 units down would be subtracting 3 from the  Y values and 4 units left would be subtracting 4 from the X values

Point A is at (2,-1)

The new point would be at (2-4, -1 -3) = (-2,-4)

Point B is at (1,-4)

The new point would be at (1-4, -4 -3) = (-3,-7)

Point C is at (3,-5)

The new point would be at (3-4, -5-3) = (-1,-8)

Point D is at (5,-3)

The new point would be (5-4, -3-3) = (1,-6)

So the new location would be:

A' (-2,-4)

B' (-3,-7)

C' (-1,-8)

D' (1,-6)

Answer: A'(-2,-4),   B'(-3, -7) , C'(-1, -8) and D' (1,-6).

Step-by-step explanation:

The translation rule for translate a figure h units leftwards is given by :-

(x,y)\to (x-h,y)

The translation rule for translate a figure k units down wards is given by :-

(x,y)\to (x,y-k)

Given : A polygon is translated 3 units down and 4 units left.

Then, the translation rule for translate figure 3 units down and 4 units will be :-

(x,y)\to (x-4,y-3)

Vertices of ABCD : A  (2,-1) , B(1,-4) , C(3,-5) and D(5,-3)

Then, the new coordinates of the image will be:-

A' (2-4,-1-3) = A'(-2,-4)

B' (1-4, -4-3) = B'(-3, -7)

C' (3-4, -5-3) = C'(-1, -8)

D' (5-4 , -3-3) =D' (1,-6)

Hence, the  new coordinates of the image : A'(-2,-4),   B'(-3, -7) , C'(-1, -8) and D' (1,-6).

How do you solve X + x/7 + (x +x/7 ) = 60?
kozerog [31]
x+ \frac{x}{7} +(x+ \frac{x}{7} )=60

Remove parentheses (a)= a

x+ \frac{x}{7} +x+ \frac{x}{7}

Group like terms:

x+ \frac{x}{7} +x+x

Add similar elements:

\frac{x}{7} + \frac{x}{7} =2 \frac{x}{7}

= 2 \frac{x}{7} +x+x

Add similar elements:

x+x = 2x

2 \frac{x}{7} +2x

Multiply 2 \frac{x}{7}

=  \frac{2x}{7} +2x

\frac{2x}{7} +2x = 60

Multiply both sides by 7 :

\frac{2x}{7} *7+2x*7 = 60*7

16x = 420

x = 420 / 16

x =  \frac{105}{4}

hope this helps!
