Answer:

Firstly,the theory of common descent states that all living organisms are descendants of a single ancestor.

The chemical make-up and biochemical process of all organisms are very similar. For example, all organisms

• are build up of the same types of complex molecules- carbohydrates, lipids, protein, and nucleic acids;

• use ATP as the immediate source of energy for metabolic reactions; and

• use the same materials and processes for storing, expressing and transmitting genetic information.

The theory of common descent states that all living organisms are descendants of a single ancestor.

Thus, the Theory of Common Descent helps to explain why species living in different geographical regions exhibit different traits, some traits are highly conserved amongst some animal classifications like vertebrates or tetrapods; seemly different species like birds and reptiles share inherited physical and genetic traits, and successfully adapted organisms typically produce more offspring.

What is the advantage of having a folded inner membrane in the mitochondria
Aliun [14]

Okay so, the mitochondria are shaped perfectly to maximize their productivity. They are made of two membranes. The outer membrane covers the organelle and contains it like a skin. The inner membrane folds over many times and creates layered structures called cristae. The fluid contained in the mitochondria is called the matrix. The folding of the inner membrane increases the surface area inside the organelle. Since many of the chemical reactions happen on the inner membrane, the increased surface area creates more space for reactions to occur.

Hope that helps (:

Is there a human carrying capacity on Earth? Explain why or why not.
ira [324]

Answer: Every species has a carrying capacity, even humans. However, it is very difficult for ecologists to calculate human carrying capacity. Humans are a complex species. We do not reproduce, consume resources, and interact with our living environment uniformly.
