Natural systems (respiring animals, decomposition, fires, the ocean) contribute approximately 700 giga-tons of Carbon (GtC) to t

he atmosphere each year. About how much Carbon do human activities contribute to the atmosphere each year?
Biology
1 answer:
mina [271]4 years ago
7 0

Answer:

Around 25-30 gigatons.

Explanation:

Although natural processes do produce much more carbon dioxide than humans, its a delicate balance and all of that carbon dioxide is absorbed back. However, when humans arrived, they disrupted that balance, and even with the relatively small amount it is creating big problems.

When oxygen is plentiful inside a skeletal muscle cell, what happens to the pyruvic acid that is formed during glycolysis?
Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

d. it diffuses into mitochondria to be broken down to generate ATP

Explanation:

When enough oxygen is available in the muscle cells, pyruvate produced by glycolysis enters the mitochondrial matrix. Once inside the mitochondria, pyruvate is decarboxylated into acetyl CoA. The reaction is catalyzed by the enzyme complex pyruvate dehydrogenase. Acetyl CoA then enters a sequence of reactions called Kreb's cycle and is broken down into CO2 and H2O. The energy released during these reactions is stored in the form of NADH and FADH2.

The NADH and FADH2 are oxidized by giving their electrons to O2 via electron transport chain. During this oxidation, the proton concentration gradient is generated across the inner mitochondrial membrane which in turn drives the process of ATP synthesis.

Force in the liquid are the forces of attraction between the molecules within the liquid.
ziro4ka [17]
The surface tension of a liquid results from an imbalance of intermolecular attractive forces, the cohesive forces between molecules: A molecule in the bulk liquid experiences cohesive forces with other molecules in all directions. A molecule at the surface of a liquid experiences only net inward cohesive forces.
