In this problem we need to find the value of a and b. So given that t<span>he function should be in the form f(n) = an + b and we know each value of n, then out goal is to find a and b.

For getting this purpose, we need to find a system of two equations (given that we have two unknown variables)

Therefore:

(1) f(0) = a(1) + b = 18
</span>∴ a + b = 18
<span>
(2) f(1) = a(2) + b = 24
</span>∴ 2a + b = 24<span>

Solving for a and b we have:

a = 6
b = 12

Finally:

f(n) = 6n + 12</span>

Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

Female=14 male=6

Step-by-step explanation:

Oof this toke long I understand it now, for yesterday you gotta do  6+6+6+6+6=30 this is the male and so you add 14 to 30=44, now comes the important part of solving this problem. For today you gotta add 4 men and 4 women so you do 6+6+6+6=24 now 14+14+14+14=56 and if you add 56+24=80 .

Let f be the function given by f(x)= (x-1)(x^2-4)/x^2-a. For what positive values of a is f continuous for all real numbers x?
9966 [12]

Answer:

a =1 and a=4.

Step-by-step explanation:

The function is

f(x)=\frac{(x-1)(x^2-4)}{x^2-a}

If we want f(x) to be continuous the denominator needs to be different to 0, otherwise f(x) will be indeterminate.

Now, for a a positive real we have that x=\sqrt{a} will annulate the denominator, i.e

(\sqrt{a})^2-a = a-a = 0. But, if a = 1 we have:

f(x)=\frac{(x-1)(x^2-4)}{x^2-1} = \frac{(x-1)(x^2-4)}{(x-1)(x+1)}=\frac{(x^2-4)}{x+1}

so, the value x=\sqrt{a} = \sqrt{1} = 1 won't annulate the denominator.

Now, for a = 4 we have:

f(x)=\frac{(x-1)(x^2-4)}{x^2-4} = x-1

so, the value x=\sqrt{a} = \sqrt{4} = 2 won't annulate the denominator.

In conclusion, for a=1 or a=1, the function will be continuos for all real numbers, since the denominator will never be 0.

If Ab = 54, find MC.
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

MC = 45

Step-by-step explanation:

Δ ABH and Δ MCH are similar and the ratios of corresponding sides are equal, that is

\frac{AB}{MC} = \frac{AH}{MH} , substitute values

\frac{54}{MC} = \frac{6}{5} ( cross- multiply )

6MC = 270 ( divide both sides by 6 )

MC = 45
