Answer:

74 \frac{5}{20}

Step-by-step explanation:

On Friday, he ran 15\frac{3}{5}  miles.

converting mix number to fraction we get,

15\frac{3}{5} =\frac{75+3}{5} =\frac{78}{5}

On Saturday, he ran twice as much as he did on Friday.

so, for Saturday it is,

2 x  \frac{78}{5}  miles

=\frac{78 x 2}{5}

=\frac{156}{5}

On Sunday he ran 3\frac{3}{4} less than Saturday.

3\frac{3}{4}=\frac{12+3}{4} =\frac{15}{4}

So, for Sunday it is-

\frac{156}{5} - \frac{15}{4}

=\frac{156x4-15x5}{20}

=\frac{624-75}{20}

=\frac{549}{20}

So, for three days,

total distance would be-

\frac{78}{5} + \frac{156}{5} + \frac{549}{20}

=\frac{78x4 + 156x4 + 549}{20}

=\frac{312+624+549}{20}

=\frac{1485}{20}

=74 \frac{5}{20}

So, Mason ran  74 \frac{5}{20}  miles in three days.

Answer:

x = 9

y = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

  1. Divide 15 by 2: 15 ÷ 2 = 7.5
  2. Subtract 0.5 from 7.5 (this will later be added back): 7.5 - 0.5 = 7
  3. Subtract 1 from 7 (she wants to buy at least 2 more children books): 7 - 1 = 6
  4. Subtract 6 from 15 (6 being the number of puzzle books, 15 being the total number of items): 15 - 6 = 9 (number of children books)
