<u>The correct answer is "an example of democracy"</u>. <em><u>Pericles</u></em>, who lived between 495 and 429 BC, was one of the most important Athenian politicians and orators. His ingenuity allowed this Greek city to stand as a unique cultural engine when producing the most varied and successful works, whether in the political, philosophical (with the examples of <em><u>Socrates and Plato</u></em>), artistic or historical. <em><u>Pericles' idea</u></em> was that <em><u>the poor because they were poor, would not be prevented from participating in active political life.</u></em> It is surprising that the word democracy was so literally applied in classical Athens. Because the popular power of government was not in the hands of elected representatives, but the people themselves exercised power. <em><u>Therefore, the popular assembly, the most relevant institution, constituted by all the citizens, was sovereign, and its power and radius of action was not limited by anything: this means that the one that best dominated the art of persuasion, the one that better talk, enthuse or please the audience was the one who could take the political command of the city.</u></em>

I have to do a short story about Southern Gothic which is based of slaves and the south. I don’t know what to write about at all
xz_007 [3.2K]
So if you're writing your own narrative, or short story in a southern gothic style, incorporate things such as hoodoo (African-American folk magic, this could give an eerie vibe because magic!!), gender roles, the horrors of racism and slavery. be sure to remember when writing that this was a different time, so stay true to the history. doing that doesn't mean you, the writer is racist.
if you're writing an essay explaining what that style is, choose 3 themes that characterize this style, and take three examples from texts.
if you are doing the narrative I'd love to read what you come up with

Why might the soviet government have persecuted the russian orthodox church ?
sdas [7]

Answer:

Christianity entered Russia from Byzantium. In the year 988, Prince Vladimir was baptized in the River Dnieper, with all the inhabitants of Kiev, and the pagan statues were destroyed. Thus was born the Russian Orthodox Church, and thus Byzantine theology, liturgical forms and church-state relationships were established as basic characteristics of popular religion in Russia. Since this missionary enterprise took place at the height of the quarrel between the Patriarch of the East and the Pope of the West, the Russian Church and people inherited the Eastern Church's antagonism to Rome and the West and shared its isolation from the Renaissance, the Reformation and the rise of modern concepts of social Christianity. Instead, the Russian Orthodox Church entered the twentieth century with the religious outlook developed no later than the Seventh Ecumenical Council, held in 787.
