Answer:The greatest weakness of the South during the civil war was its: economy. Much of the hunger experienced by Confederate soldiers in the Civil War was due to: the South's rickety transportation system.

Explanation:Southerners enjoyed the initial advantage of morale: The South was fighting to maintain its way of life, whereas the North was fighting to maintain a union. Slavery did not become a moral cause of the Union effort until Lincoln announced the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

Southerners were at a disadvantage because it was harder for them to industrialize due to them being highly dependent on agriculture and slavery. Also, northern states had more factories to produce a mass amount of weapons, whereas the South had fewer factories, which caused them to have fewer weapons than the North.

The North's greatest weakness was its military leadership.

At the start of the war, about one-third of the nation's military officers resigned and returned to their homes in the South. During much of the war, Lincoln searched for effective generals who could lead the Union to victory.
