Previewing is a method used to pick up clues about written material. Previewing contains the prefix /pre-/ which means before. Readers do this so that they have a general idea of what they are reading before they actually read the article. During the previewing process, a reader will read the title, any headings or subheadings, look at any images within the text and their captions, as well as reading the a few sentences of the first paragraph.

<h3>Further Explanation</h3>

Previewing is an important step in the reading process. Many people do it subconsciously when they pick up a text and take a quick look to see whether or not it is worth their time to read. With novels, readers will often look at the cover, read the back, and maybe even a little of the first page to preview the novel.

Wrong Answers

Reviewing the text for central ideas is what a reader does after reading. Reviewing contains the prefix /re-/ which means to do something again. In this option, the reader already has read the reading material and is no longer looking for "clues".

Summarizing an article's main concept is also not done in the previewing stage. In order to summarize, the reader would need to have already read the text.

Scanning for specific details or information is a technique used when answering comprehension questions or collecting evidence from a text to support an argument. It is done after the text has already be read and not beforehand.

We look through the texts or paragraphs quickly in order finding its topic and its main idea before we read the whole text or paragraphs. Previewing gives us a general understanding of the reading where it is helpful when we read the whole text from beginning to end. Joanne is 44 and has recently been second guessing and reevaluating her religious and political beliefs. According to the text,
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

- Identity versus role confusion.

Explanation:

'Identity versus role confusion' is illustrated as the fifth stage or phase of Erik Erikson's theory of 'psycho-social development' among the adolescent kids aging between 12 to 19 years of age. At this stage, adolescents tend to develop a recognition/sense of their 'selves' and affiliate it to their identity. In this phase, they experience a 'determinative' conflict as at this stage the success is affiliated with a tendency to stay faithful to their selves(identity) while the failure ends up in 'role confusion'.

As per the question, Joanne would likely be in this phase as she is going through the phase of 'developmental conflict' and suffers 'role confusion' as reflected by 'her revaluation of religious and political beliefs'. She tends to hold her 'self' and 'identity' over the confusions. Thus, she is going through '<u>Identity versus role confusion</u>' crisis stage of adulthood.

marusya05 [52]

Answer:

Ok, I'm going to give this a shot.

Explanation:

It was 3 o clock when they walked in and saw him lying dead on the floor. There was no evidence for the police to find, just a middle-aged man dead in a hotel room at the Roulexxe. Of course, the media was abuzz, the Roulexxe was shut down, and everyone was in an uproar. After a month, the police declared the case closed and the hotel safe. And, when they made the grand re-opening of the Roulexxe, it was 3 o clock that they found another dead body. The public was now panicking. The hotel was too, for they thought that they were going to have to shut down. The police declared the case reopened and investigated even further. But it was to no avail. There was nothing. Just two dead bodies found at 3 o clock in the Roulexxe. Everyone began to distrust the famous Roulexxe hotel and began going to a different one, called Le Champion. And, it was 3 o clock when a maid walked in on a dead body at Le Champion.
