A law was created where you could only a man could vote if their grandfather voted prior to the time they were supposed to vote. This was called the "Grandfather Clause." African-Americans were politically shamed upon as people of that time period thought that whites were superior to all races and ethnic groups. So when Whites in the government came up with the Grandfather clause they knew that not one African-Americans grandfather would have been able to vote prior to then. The law was a perfect way to limit the African-Americans without seeming totally racist.

i feel my eyes are playing tricks on me again, every time i look i see it...them. with the deep cuts on my skin and my missing teeth around me i try to find my flash light which had flung when i tripped. not being able to find it i get up and run as fast as i can away from them... the hunters. the challenge just started yesterday and already im about to loose, i already lost my team, 1 shot by a hunter with the blood oozing out of her head and the other... never mind.

Building through the Sierra Nevada Mountains was very difficult and dangerous. Temperatures were freezing during the winter and in one year alone there were 44 storms.There was the great danger of an avalanche for the men working through 18 feet of snow and camping on the tunnels beneath it. Creating tunnels through the mountains required blasting with nitroglycerin. Advancing at one foot of mountain at a time, a total of 11 tunnels was created.
