What is still lacking in the hypothesis of an asteroid impact as the cause of the end-cretaceous mass extinction?
Doss [256]

A convincing explanation of why some lineages survived while others vanished is still lacking in the hypothesis of an asteroid impact as the cause of the end-cretaceous mass extinction.

What is an asteroid?

One of the smaller planets in the inner Solar System is an asteroid. Asteroids are metallic or rocky bodies without an atmosphere, ranging in size from 1-meter pebbles to a dwarf planet with a diameter of over 1000 km.

The majority of the one million or more known asteroids are concentrated in the main asteroid belt, which is 2 to 4 AU from the Sun and between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The three categories of asteroids that are typically recognized are C-type, M-type, and S-type.

These were given their names and are frequently associated with, respectively, carbonaceous, metallic, and silicaceous compositions. The largest asteroid, Ceres, has a diameter of over 1,000 km (600 mi), making it a dwarf planet.

During volume changes in the thoracic cavity, what is primarily responsible for changes in length?.
rusak2 [61]

During volume changes in the thoracic cavity, Diaphragm is primarily responsible for changes in length.

The main components of the respiratory system are the two lungs. They are located in the thoracic cavity, which is the area to the left and right of the heart. The rib cage safeguards the cavity. Other components of the respiratory system are supported by a muscular sheet known as the diaphragm.

The diaphragm contracts and pulls downward upon inspiration, or when the lungs inhale. The muscles between the ribcage tighten and pull upward at the same time. As a result, the pressure inside the thoracic cavity lowers and its size grows. Air rushes in as a result, filling the lungs.

Thus, diaphragm is responsible for the increase in length of the thoracic cavity.

part 1: between the moon and the earth which has a higher maximum surface temperature. part 2: using complete sentences explain
IrinaK [193]
Earth has a lower average temperature than the moon. Although, some might think that the earth has a higher average temperature because the earth is hot. Yet, the moon has far more avaerage temperature than the earth because the earths atmosphere blocks the suns radiation from directly hiting it. Also, the moon doesn't have a atmosphere to keep away the suns radiation.
