Harriet Tubman helped many slaves escape on the underground railroad, and is one of the most famous abolotionists.

Before the civil war, Tubman courageously faced danger time and again to guide runaway slaves to freedom. Harriet Tubman was born a slave in Maryland around 1822, Tubman yearned for freedom. In the year 1849, she ran away, fleeing north to Pennsylvania. Harriet Tubman guided around 70 people to freedom in Canada.
