Damaged tissue releases chemicals that activate platelets and stimulate the formation of blood clots. Which of the following pre

dictions about the activity of platelets best describes a positive feedback mechanism?(A) Activated platelets release chemicals that inhibit blood clot formation. (B) Activated platelets release signaling molecules that inhibit cell division in damaged tissue.(C) Activated platelets constrict the blood vessels, stopping blood flow.(D) Activated platelets release chemicals that activate more platelets.

Activated platelets release chemicals that activate more platelets-describes best the positive feedback mechanism of platelets

Explanation:

A positive feedback mechanism is a type of self-amplifying process triggered by a stimulus that leads to greater change along the same direction.

The steps in homeostasis of blood are – platelet adherence, platelet activation, platelet aggregation, coagulation.

When a blood vessel is damaged or injured, various chemicals are released which cause the platelets to adhere to the walls of the blood vessels. This action causes the platelets to release their own chemicals which stimulate the clotting process furthermore. This process is continuous until the injured bleeding blood vessel is corrected by a clot formation and is an example of positive feedback mechanism.

Platelet activation involves releasing of chemicals like cytokines, chemical mediators and coagulation factors; namely, thromboxane A2, ADP, PDGF, VWF, serotonin etc. Chemicals like ADP, VWF etc are released at high levels with increase in platelet plug formation.

Two Drosophila with genotypes AABBCC and aabbcc are crossed to produce a heterozygous offspring, AaBbCc (the gene order is unkno
Crank

Answer:

The double recombinant individuals are less frequent ---> Abc and aBC

Explanation:

We can know if genes are linked, by looking at the progeny distribution. In a tri-hybrid cross, If individuals, whose genes assort independently, are test crossed, they produce a progeny with equal phenotypic frequencies 1:1:1:1:1:1:1:1. If we observe a different distribution, meaning that phenotypes appear in different proportions, we can assume that genes are linked in the heterozygote parent.

We can recognize the parental gametes because their phenotypes are the most frequent in the descendants, while the double recombinants are the less frequent. Finally, the simple recombinant gametes are the ones with intermediate phenotypes frequencies.

In the present example, the phenotypic ratio shows different proportions than the expected ones if they were not linked.

We can recognize the parental gametes in the descendants because their phenotypes are the most frequent,

  • ABC and abc   600

while the double recombinants are less frequent.

  • Abc and aBC  50

And simple recombinant gametes produced by the cross, which frequencies are intermediate.

  • AbC and aBc 200
  • ABc and abC 150

a. Which phenotype represents the double crossovers

What color light would most likely be present at 200 meters below sea level<br>and why
mojhsa [17]

Answer:    Sunlight entering the water may travel about 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) into the ocean under the right conditions, but there is rarely any significant light beyond 200 meters (656 feet).

The ocean is divided into three zones based on depth and light level. The upper 200 meters (656 feet) of the ocean is called the euphotic, or "sunlight," zone. This zone contains the vast majority of commercial fisheries and is home to many protected marine mammals and sea turtles.

Only a small amount of light penetrates beyond this depth.

The zone between 200 meters (656 feet) and 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) is usually referred to as the “twilight” zone, but is officially the dysphotic zone. In this zone, the intensity of light rapidly dissipates as depth increases. Such a minuscule amount of light penetrates beyond a depth of 200 meters that photosynthesis is no longer possible.

The aphotic, or “midnight,” zone exists in depths below 1,000 meters (3,280 feet). Sunlight does not penetrate to these depths and the zone is bathed in darkness.

‘Photic’ is a derivative of ‘photon,’ the word for a particle of light.

Which statement is an example of a scientific theory?
sergiy2304 [10]

The correct answer is option B, that is, all living organisms are composed of one or more cells, which came from pre-existing cells.

A scientific theory refers to a well-substantiated illustration of some characteristic of the natural world, on the basis of a number of facts, which have been repeatedly confirmed via the experiment and observation. Such fact-supported theories are not hypotheses, however, are reliable explanations of the real world.

During the late 1830s, the zoologist Schwann and the botanist Schleiden were examining tissues and postulated the unified cell theory. According to the unified cell theory, all the living things comprises of one or more cells, the cell is the fundamental unit of life, and the new cells originate from the pre-existing cells.
