As the two parental (template) DNA strands separate at a replication fork, each of the strands is separately copied by a DNA pol

ymerase III (orange), producing two new daughter strands (light blue), each complementary to its respective parental strand. Because the two parental strands are antiparallel, the two new strands (the leading and lagging strands) cannot be synthesized in the same way. Drag each phrase to the appropriate bin depending on whether it describes the synthesis of the leading strand, the synthesis of the lagging strand, or the synthesis of both strands.
a. multiple primers needed
b. daughter strand elongates toward replication fork
c. only one primer needed
d. synthesized 5' to 3'
e. daughter strand elongates away from replication fork
f. made continuously
g. made in segments

Answer:

a. multiple primers needed      lagging strand

b. daughter strand elongates toward replication fork  leading strand

c. only one primer needed      leading strand

d. synthesized 5' to 3'      both strands

e. daughter strand elongates away from replication fork  lagging strand

f. made continuously       leading strand

g. made in segments      lagging strand

Explanation:

a, g and e: the lagging strand is synthesized in segments.

b, c, f: the synthesis is continue.

d. DNA polimerase acts only in 5' to 3'  sense.

1. What is the Photosynthesis EQUATION? What is being consumed and what is produced?
Alla [95]
1. 6CO2 + H2O -----> C6H12O6 + 02

2. The idea of photosynthesis or light dependent reactions is to convert solar/light energy into chemical energy by the form of ATP and NADPH. CO2 and Water are consumed and react to release Glucose and 02. Approximately 36-38 ATP produced.

3. Water is the source of hydrogen atoms in the glucose (sugar) created by the photosynthesis reaction.

4 .
Step 1) The light absorbed by chlorophyll causes a transfer of electrons and H+ from H20 molecules already present. This causes the H20 to split into molecular 0xygen (02) and a H+ ion.

Step 2.) The O2 is released (we breathe it) and the H+ bonds to NADP+ creating NADPH

Step 3) ATP is formed through photophosphorylation. (ADP gets a phosphate group added to it creating ATP)

Step 4.) The NADPH and the ATP created here go on to fuel the reactions in the second part of photosynthesis - The Calvin Cycle

5. The Calvin cycle is a metabolic process that uses the carbon from carbon dioxide, along with energy in the form of ATP, to produce sugar.
A G3P molecule contains three fixed carbon atoms, so it takes two G3Ps to build a six-carbon glucose molecule. It would take six turns of the cycle.

6. To help synthesize carbohydrates for energy

7. In fixation, the first stage of the Calvin cycle, light-independent reactions are initiated; CO2 is fixed from an inorganic to an organic molecule. In the second stage, ATP and NADPH are used to reduce 3-PGA into G3P; then ATP and NADPH are converted to ADP and NADP +, respectively

Mating is rarely random. Many organisms choose a mate for specific reasons - body size, coloration, antler size, feather length,
poizon [28]

Answer:

Natural selection

Explanation:

Sexual selection refers to the natural selection where the allele frequencies of a population are changed due to nonrandom mating between the individuals. Certain preferences for the mate by organisms result in sexual selection. It is mostly exhibited by females.

For example, peahen prefers the peacocks with elaborate tail features as their mate. The sexual selection also occurs when there is competition among the members of the same sex for a mate. This type of sexual selection is mostly exhibited by males and results in fighting and display.
