Based on the pedigree that is shown above, how to describe Fred?

Biology
1 answer:
slavikrds [6]4 years ago

Answer:

The given pedigree analysis shows sex-linked trait where the female work as a carrier and have X linked recessive gene that is X^{h} and the male is normal.

So, Fred will be a male with X^{h}Y gene and Fred will be affected with X linked disease which is carried by female.

If, X^{h} gene in the female (Ann) act as a carrier of hemophilia and the male (John) is normal, then Fred will be a male affected with hemophilia (sex linked disease).

Hence, Fred will be affected male with X^{h}Y genotype.

What will happen to the sand when you pour water into the river??
Ainat [17]

When we mix sand and water, no reaction takes place. The sand simply settles down at the bottom of the water container. This is because sand is heavier than water and hence cannot float in water. ... In comparison, if we mix something like salt or sugar in water, they will react and make the water salty or sweet.

What is an example of a population with the ingredient for species? Would it be evolution?
photoshop1234 [79]

All members of a species that dwell in the same region are referred to as a population. You are a member of your hometown's human population. A freshwater pond is home to a variety of species, including mallard ducks and cattail plants growing on the pond's border. Basically, a population is a collection of individuals of the same species that live in the same geographic region and interbreed. Many animals have several populations that are spread across a wide range of geographic locations.

The bacterium Methylophilus methylotrophus can use methanol and ammonia for protein synthesis. The glutamate dehydrogenase gene
VikaD [51]

Answer:

- Glutamate dehydrogenase has a low affinity for NH+4, and can only catalyze the formation of glutamate from alpha-ketoglutarate and NH+4, when the concentration of NH+4 is high.

- Glutamate is the amino group donor for most transamination reactions involving amino acids, thus an increase in glutamate concentration increases protein synthesis.

Explanation:

Glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH) is an enzyme found in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, which is known to catalyze the reversible oxidative deamination of glutamate (Glu) to alpha-ketoglutarate and ammonia at the same time the oxidation of NADH to NAD. In bacteria, this enzyme (GLDH) is efficient only at high concentrations of the ammonium cation (NH4+), because it has a low affinity for NH4+. Moreover, transamination is a pathway that involves the transfer of an amino group from one amino acid to a ketoacid in order to form new amino acids (this reaction is responsible for the deamination of most amino acids). Glu is the donor of amino groups in most of the reactions catalyzed by enzymes involved in the transamination between an amino acid and an alpha-keto acid. In consequence, in presence of GLDH, a high concentration of Glu will increase the production of new amino acids and therefore also protein synthesis.
