Answer:

The polar coordinates are as follow:

a. (6,2π)

b. (18, π/3)

c. (2√2 , 3π/4)

d. (2, 5π /6)

Step-by-step explanation:

To convert the rectangular coordinates into polar coordinates, we need to calculate r, θ .

To calculate r, we use Pythagorean theorem:

r = \sqrt{ x^{2} +y^{2} } ---- (1)

To calculate the θ, first we will find out the θ '  using the inverse of cosine as it is easy to calculate.

So,    θ '  = cos ⁻¹  (x/r)

If  y  ≥  0  then  θ  =  ∅

If  y  <  0  then  θ  =  2 π  −  ∅

For a. (6,0)

Sol:

Using the formula in equation (1). we get the value of r as:

r = \sqrt{6^{2} + 0^{2}  }

r = 6

And ∅  = cos ⁻¹  (x/r)

∅ = cos ⁻¹  (6/6)

∅  =cos ⁻¹   (1) = 2π

As If  y  ≥  0  then  θ  =  ∅

So ∅ = 2π

The polar coordinates are (6,2π)

For a. (9,9/\sqrt{3})

Sol:

r = 9 + 3(3) = 18

and ∅  = cos ⁻¹  (x/r)

∅ = cos ⁻¹  (9/18)

∅ = cos ⁻¹   (1/2) = π/3

As  If  y  ≥  0  then  θ  =  ∅

then θ  = π/3

The polar coordinates are (18, π/3)

For (-2,2)

Sol:

r =√( (-2)²+(2)² )

r = 2 √2

and ∅  = cos ⁻¹  (x/r)

∅ = cos ⁻¹  (-2/ 2 √2)

∅ = 3π/4

As  If  y  ≥  0  then  θ  =  ∅

then   θ  = 3π/4

The polar coordinates are (2√2 , 3π/4)

For (-√3, 1)

Sol:

r = √ ((-√3)² + 1²)

r = 2

and ∅  = cos ⁻¹  (x/r)

∅  = cos ⁻¹ ( -√3/2)

∅  = 5π /6

As  If  y  ≥  0  then  θ  =  ∅

So  θ  = 5π /6

The polar coordinates are (2, 5π /6)

Which of these is an odd function?
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

f(x)=2x^3+x

Step-by-step explanation:

An odd function <em>f</em> is one where f(-x)=-f(x). We can interpret this is meaning: reflecting the graph horizontally f(-x) has the same effect as reflecting it vertically -f(x) . The only graphs that meet this requirement are ones with reflectional symmetry across the line y = x, so we can immediately elimate the functions f(x)=3x^2+7 and f(x)=5x^2-6, which have horizontal symmetry, but not the kind of symmetry we're looking for.

That leaves us with f(x)=2x^3+x and f(x)=4x^3+2x^2. One feature of exponents we can utilize is that -1 to an even power is 1, while -1 to an odd power is -1. If we want f(-x)=-f(x), we need to flip the signs of <em>all </em>the coefficients, and we can only do that if all the powers of x are odd. The only function with only odd powers of x is f(x)=2x^3+x, and plugging in -x to the function reveals that

f(-x)=2(-x)^3+(-x)\\f(-x)=-2x^3-x=-(2x^3+x)=-f(x)

So f(x)=2x^3+x the only odd function on the list!

Answer:

1.  144  2. 16 3. 1   4. 3x-6

Step-by-step explanation:

So think of this as a function in a function.  So you work from the inside to the outside.  So for problem 1, we start with f(4)) [you read it "f of 4"] so what is the solution when x = 4, since f(x) means the function of x so f(4) means 'the function of 4' inside f(x).

Since f(x) = 3x then f(4) = 3(4) [notice how you substitute the 4 everywhere you see a letter x]

so f(4) = 12, now you work the next part h(f(4)) since f(4)=12 then h(12)

So take the h(x) function which is h(x) = x^{2} then h(12) = 12^{2} so h(12) = 144

<span>To solve this we would need to find the bottom 10% z-score and find c such that Pr(X<c)=0.1. We find that c = -1.2815 using normal distribution. The cutoff salary for teachers in the bottom 10% would be X=26000 + 5000 x (-1.28155) or 19,592.24.</span>
