The sentence that uses parallelism in this passage is option A) “King grabs power by gathering armies, fighting wars, and building castles.”  For a sentence to properly use parallel structures, it must have verb tense agreement and also follow the same pattern. Parallel structures are useful writing resources that add coherence to a text.  In this sentence, pattern is followed by using the same gramar structure “verb+ing” as in “gathering”, “fighting”, and “building”. It also uses an object after each “verb + ing” as in “armies”, “wars”, and “castles”.  The other sentences do not use parallel structures since the pattern mentioned previously is not followed.

Complete the following analogy:
o-na [289]

ENEMY : FEUD :: RIVAL : QUARREL

Option: C

Explanation:

An analogy is a comparison in which a object or an idea is compared to another thing that totally differs from it.

Here, word rival means a contender or a competitor to be defeated. This more or less matches the word enemy than all the other given words.

In the same way, to feud is to quarrel (argument that goea on for a pretty long time) and this directly means the term quarrel.

The rest options do come into account as the meaning totally differs.

RoseWind [281]

Answer:

C.  A performer relies on being in the public eye for success but still yearns for privacy.

Explanation:

The irony is when what happens is contradictory to what is expected or wanted. In other words, the irony is a rhetorical device that occurs when what one expects and wanted does not happen but rather, the contrary/opposite happens.

In the given passage about performers, the irony is that they rely on public opinion and the public's support for their success as performers. But then, they wanted privacy and to be away from the public. So, this is a complete irony in that while they desire the public for their success, they also yearn for privacy.

Thus, the correct answer is option C.
