Why did the framers of the constitution as well as the many elected state officials fear creating a federal government that exer

ted strong central control over the actions of the states and the nation's citizens?
A. The framers of the constitution knew that if they exerted strong control over the states, they would be required to send in the militia
anytime citizens disagreed with the decisions of the central government.

B. The American Revolution began as a protest against the strong central government imposed on the colonists by King George; the
new independent United States government was well aware of the dangers such strong central control posed to the stability of the
young nation.

C. They did not want the federal government to be burdened with the high cost of enforcing laws in the states before the nation's
treasury was more robust.

D. a strong central government was simply too complex for them to create, given the number of citizens and the tremendous area the
United States covered.
