There are 2 triangles here.  You have to drop an altitude and determine the length of it.  You can use the fact that sin45 = h/5 (h is the height) and get that the height is 3.5.  The rule then is if h is smaller than b which is in turn smaller than c, you have 2 triangles.  This is the case of the ambiguous triangle, that SSA that you cannot use to prove congruency.  The rules are very particular for whether or not 0, 1, or 2 triangles exist.  Learn them.

An electronics store has portable CD players on sale for $54.95. If the local sales tax is 6.5%, what is the total cost of a CD
borishaifa [10]

Answer:

Total cost of CD player = $58.52

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

Price of CD player on sale= $54.95

Local sales tax = 6.5%

Total cost of CD player = ?

Solution:

Local sales tax= (6.5 * 54.95)/100 = $3.57

Total cost of CD player = Price of CD player on sale + Local sales tax

                                       =  $54.95 + $3.57

Total cost of CD player = $58.52

The distribution of the amount of money spent by students for textbooks in a semester is approximately normal in shape with a me
vladimir2022 [97]

Answer:

b. between 195 and 275 dollars.

Step-by-step explanation:

The standard deviation rule, or the 68-95-99.7 rule, states that, for a normally distributed random variable X:

68% of the measures are within 1 standard deviation of the mean

95% of the measures are within 2 standard deviations of the mean.

99.7% of the measures are within 3 standard deviations of the mean.

In this problem, we have that:

Mean 235, standard deviation 20.

According to the Standard Deviation Rule, in a semester, most (95%) of the students spent on textbooks:

Between 235 - 2*20 = 195 dollars and 235 + 2*20 = 275 dollars.

So the correct answer is:

b. between 195 and 275 dollars.
