The major downfall of the Articles of Confederation was simply weakness. The federal government, under the Articles, was too weak to enforce their laws and therefore had no power. The Continental Congress had borrowed money to fight the Revolutionary War and could not repay their debts.

A few weaknesses from the articles of confederation were...

 1. Congress had no power to take/collect taxes
 2. There was no branch or system to make sure laws were being carried out
 3. Lots of debts were made that couldn't be paid
 4. Too many currencies were made and not just 1 currency for the country.

I only listed a few there are plenty more weaknesses.

What made the North and South US different
from each other? Similar?
9966 [12]

Answer:

They did not do a lot of farming because the soil was rocky and the colder climate made for a shorter growing season. Outside of slavery, however, the social strata of the North and South were very similar. Class structure in both developed along very similar lines with a large lower class, a smaller middle class, and a much smaller upper class.
