An archway is modeled by the equation y = -2x2 + 8x. A rod is to be placed across the archway at an angle defined by the equatio

n x − 2.23y + 10.34 = 0. If the rod is attached to the archway at points A and B, such that point B is at a higher level than point A, at what distance from the ground level is point B? 8 units 6 units 5 units 3 units

We need to solve the system

y = -2x^2 + 8x
y = (x + 10.34) / 2.23

-2x^2 + 8x =  0.4484x +  4.637

this gives x = 0.77 and 3

So required height = y when x = 3  =  -2(3)^2 + 8(3) =  6 feet  answer

The equation below expresses the approximate
natka813 [3]

Answer:

The ball will be the 7 ft high at 2 different times.

Step-by-step explanation:

The height in meters of the ball is given by the following equation:

h(t) = -16t^2 + 25t

7 feet high

The height, by the equation, is given in meters, so we have to work in meters. Since each feet has 0,3048 meters, 7 feet have have 2.1336 meters. So, we have to solve the following equation

2,1336 = -16t^2 + 25t

16t^2 - 25t + 2,1336 = 0

At how many different times will the ball be 7 ft. High?

We have to find the number of solutions for the equation above.

It is given according to the value of \Delta = b^2 - 4ac. If it is positive, there are two solutions, zero one solution and negative no solutions.

In this equation a = 16, b = -25, c = 2.1336. So

\Delta = b^2 - 4ac = (-25)^2 - 4*16*2.1336 = 488

Since the coefficient is positive, the ball will be the 7 ft high at 2 different times.

Which system of equations could be graphed to solve the equation below?<br> log(2x+1)=3x-2
Setler [38]

Answer:

y_{1}=log(2x+1), \ y_{2}=3x-2

Step-by-step explanation:

In this problem, we have that:

log(2x+1)=3x-2

So we can see this as an equation that comes from matching two equations, these two equations are:

f(x)=y_{1}=log(2x+1) \ and \ g(x)=y_{2}=3x-2

Therefore, by matching f(x) \ and \ g(x), we'll find the y-value at which these two functions intersects, that is:

y_{1}=y_{2}
