The serratus anterior muscle is originated from the sides of the chest and originates from the 1 to 8 ribs. The long thoracic nerve innervates in the serratus anterior muscle.
This muscle inserts at the medial border of the scapula. The contraction of this muscle results in the scapular rotation and pulls the scapula towards the thorax. The anteversion of the arm and the scapular protraction is also caused by serratus anterior contraction.
