How have right-to-work laws affected union members

English

Less, they give every worker the right to work (for far less money than union members) and to pay for their own insurance in some cases. "Right to work" laws were designed to destroy unions, and keep workers from having a voice, any bargaining power. Thereby lowering the average wage of most workers in those states compared to states without "right to work" (for less money) laws. Unions built this country, unions gave us the 5 day week (instead of 6), unions gave us the 8 hour day (instead of 12), unions gave us heat and air conditioning in the work places and many more working conditions. Many people fought and died so that we can live the good life today. Without unions America would have been another monarchy or aristocracy long ago.

Explanation of poetry pretty words
Monica [59]
Hello there if you are talking about "pretty words" by Elinor Wylie then.. I think the tone for the poem is admiring be cause when Wylie says "Words shy and dappled, deep eyed deer in herds" and, "I love words opalescent, cool and pearly", it shows her admiration for all sorts of words. When Wylie says in line 1 " poets make pets of pretty, docile words", she means that you can command words to do whatever you want if you know how to use em.

Theme: poets understand the uniqueness, weight, and beauty that words can hold and they know how to use them.

So pretty much here's a little summary: the speaker is comparing words to pets, and how they can be 'tamed'.

Hopefully that all helps!

Papessa [141]

Answer: Identity Moratorium because the narrator has been kidnapped and at first he called out to his friends for help, not knowing they had been kidnapped as well. When he was pushed into the car, he again tried to call to his friends, but was silenced. Then, he tried talking to his captors, thinking this was all a big misunderstanding. (I wanna read this book! It sounds interesting. What's it called? Also, I hope this helps!)
